Tolerance Guidelines: Plate / Sheet

• Standard plate and sheet width and length tolerance is +/-1/16".
• Upon request, special processing for sheared sheet can be done with width and length tolerance of +1/16", -0.Precision shearing to +/-0.015" is also available upon request.
• Sheared expanded metal width and length tolerance is +/-1/8".
• Diagonal tolerance is 3/16" maximum on sheared items.

• Standard abrasive saw cut plate and sheet width and length tolerance is +1/8",-0".
• Abrasive sawed plate may be furnished with up to (2) mill edges.
• Diagonal tolerance is 3/16" maximum on saw cut items.

• Tolerance on lengths from the coil line up to 72" long is +1/16", -0.  Lengths beyond 72" are +1/8", -0.
• Diagonal tolerance on the sheet coil leveling line is 1/8" maximum.
• Maximum cut length is 300"

• Standard plasma cutting tolerances that apply to both the top and bottom surfaces are as follows:
• Up to 5/8" thick: +1/8", -0
• >5/8" to 1-3/4" thick: +1/4", -0
• Over 1-3/4" thick: +3/8", -0

• Diagonal tolerance is 3/16" maximum on plasma cut items.

• Standard waterjet processing tolerances are as follows:
• 0.015" to 0.500" thick: +/-0.030"
• >0.500" to 2" thick: +/-0.045"
• >2" to 3" thick: +/-0.090"
• >3" thick: +/-0.125"
•  The waterjet bed size is 72" x 144. Drawings in .dxf format are preferred. Other acceptable formats include .dwg, .igs, .cdl, .hpgl, .dstv.

• Diagonal tolerance is 3/16" maximum on waterjet cut items.

• Standard laser processing tolerances are as follows:
• 0.060" to 0.125 thick: +/-0.010"
• >0.125" to 1/4" thick: +/-0.015"
• >1/4" thick: +/-0.025"
•  Minimum ID: .125" 
• The laser machine bed size is 76" x 156".  Drawings in .dxf format are preferred. Other acceptable formats include .dwg, .igs, .cdl, .hpgl, .dstv, and MetalSoft files.

• Diagonal tolerance is 3/16" maximum on laser cut items.

Material tolerances not listed below shall be in accordance with the ASTM, ASME, or AMS specification to which the material was produced and certified.

• Cut to length round bar, flat bar, hex bar, square bar, threaded bar, pipe, tubing, and structural shapes' length tolerance is +1/8", -0 or may be applied as +/-1/16" on the customer's request.

Material tolerances not listed below shall be in accordance with the ASTM, ASME, or AMS specification to which the material was produced and certified.

• Cut to length rod coil tolerance is +1/8", -0 or may be applied as +/-1/16" on the customer's request.
