REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of Chemicals) is the system for controlling chemicals in the EU. It was adopted by the European Union on December 18, 2006. It became law in the UK on 1st June 2007.

Based on information obtained in consultation with our European offices and from the REACH website in the UK (, Rolled Alloys has determined that the stainless, nickel and titanium alloy mill products we supply are considered “articles” under the REACH definitions.  Further, since these articles are not designed to intentionally release matter into the environment, REACH registration is not required.  Additional discussion of metallic mill products can be found in the article located at

Registration of products can only be accomplished by the European manufacturer or by the organization importing the item meeting the registration criteria.  In some instances, customers producing products using materials we supply may need to submit a REACH registration for THEIR product.  In such a case, the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) we supply with initial shipments (also available on our website) may be needed to facilitate their registration process.
