Yes. Rolled Alloys offers metallurgical support and laboratory services to help determine root cause for premature component failures, including failure analysis, PMI (positive material identification), and corrosion/oxidation studies.

How It Works

Our Metallurgical Services team reviews your application details and failed components, then performs laboratory examinations (e.g., microscopy, chemical analysis, corrosion testing) and provides a written assessment with recommendations. For many customer cases, this service is provided at no charge.

Steps:

  1. Prepare background information (service temperature, environment/chemistry, time in service, and operating history).
  2. Request assistance from Metallurgical Services.
  3. If asked, send photos or arrange to submit a sample/failed part for lab evaluation (PMI, metallography, corrosion testing, etc.).
  4. Review the findings and recommendations report with our team; discuss material or process changes to extend service life.

Helpful Tips

Include both normal and worst‑case operating conditions (start‑ups, upsets, downtime cycles) to speed diagnosis.

If alloy identity is uncertain, ask about PMI to verify material composition before deeper testing.

We can also provide sample coupons for in‑house trials or welding procedure development.
